I designed the renovation of this flat for myself. I live in it, and like it as a user. With the renovation I couldn't increase the size of the flat, but I could increase the sense of space. Three types of spaces are differently and distinctly defined. The bigger windows extend the interior space towards the balcony. It is possible to walk around from space to space, to the outside, and in again. The intermediate space has a long and varying elevation. There are many views from one space to another, some of them through several openings to a space beyond. All these are principles we can also find in Chinese gardens. Without the encouragement and help of my young colleague Nelson Tam and his wife Soso I would not have dared to buy and renovate a flat.
