On the following pages I give an overview of my studies of a type of structure which I call leverworks. Others call this type or similar structures reciprocal frames, grillage structures, bar grids or mutually supporting structures. A specific variant is called Zollbauweise in German and lamella structure in English. These pages are still evolving. The image above shows a bamboo dome with a diameter of about ten meters built on a Summer day of the year 2000 on the lawn behind the Chung Chi College canteen at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
