March 1 design studio at SEU Nanjing
The head of the School of Architecture at Southeast University in Nanjing – Gong Kai – invited me
to conduct a two week workshop in May and June 2010 with 26 year 1 graduate students. The resulting work
and selected work from Hangzhou and Hong Kong was shown in an exhibition and commented in a lecture.
During the two weeks we worked on every second day a full day. The students were working in five groups of five to six students. Initially I didn't show the students any precedent except for a basic unit of four beams. The above image shows one group in the studio during the guided exploration phase.
The slides give an impression of the course and the exhibition. More information can be found on some pages in the leverworks section of this site.
