Research studies: form as graphic and text
Some computer programs give the user the choice to work either with the graphic
objects appearing on the screen, or with the scripts which define and generate
them, or with a combination of both. I consider this a powerful concept and
specifically interesting for designers. On the background of my own explorations,
I offer to help learning how to build parametric objects with the Geometric
Description Language (GDL) in Graphisoft ArchiCAD, and how to generate and
manipulate movies with ActionScript in Macromedia Flash. We will either explore
forms with curved edges and surfaces in 2D and 3D, or experiment with
implementations of ideas relating to interactive drawings.
